So, its been a wild ride getting together this vinyl release. But the gears have been moving and now we have something to show for it. We authorized pressing just yesterday, and expect to have the records in our hands in a matter of weeks. An August release date may be set very soon. As many of you know we have our artwork back from the indomitable Aaron Ray, and he gave us this:
Meanwhile our friends at Soundcyst have the new record for preorder.
Now, there have been some other developments worth noting. First of all, we’ve gotten some complaints that our first full length album, In Everything Give Thanks, was encoded incorrectly into the iTunes music store and the songs start and end inconsistently with the track times. We have no idea how this happened. But to solve it we are taking two steps: first, to alert our audience not to buy our album on iTunes. At least not for now. The second step is for anybody who ordered our songs off iTunes can e-mail us and we will personally e-mail them a digital copy of the record. If you ordered the album from iTunes and want a higher quality copy, e-mail us.
Also, all preorders will be coupled with a digital download of that same 2006 album, In Everything Give Thanks. This will all be bundled with a free digital copy of our new record, so you can have both the vinyl to listen to and a copy for your computer/iPod/CD burner/whatever. Here’s how the pre-order works: you get an e-mail as soon as your order is processed with a free download of both our new album and our old album. Then you get the 12” shipped to your door the day of the release.
The first handful of preorders, however, will get a special bonus to this. To give some background, the wonderful Japanese label Stiffslack is doing a release of our new record on a CD, only to be distributed in Japan. It is being released under the title Sun Song and includes much older material that was circulated but never officially released. Maybe a hundred or so people have owned copies of this material, when we sold it in 2005. Sun Song, as you will notice, also sports different artwork:
There have been 300 copies of this CD made, and we got a handful in the mail today. We are going to give a chunk of this handful to our very first preorders, and so far that number is 10. The first ten preorders of our new record will come with this Japanese CD, along with our two later albums, and our nice 12” on its way to your mailbox. This is essentially our entire discography, save for a four song demo we recorded in 2003, for one preoder. We may give out a few more copies of Sun Song beyond the first ten, but we need to do some figuring out.
Preoders have already begun! Here’s the link again: SOUNDCYST WEBSTORE
In other news our most recent live performance, August 2007, was videotaped and will be posted soon in its entirety. Unfortunately no new shows on the horizon. Keep checking back!
